This past weekend we sarted a monthly series featuring small businesses. Our first Small Biz Saturday features our very own counselor Isha and her business @shear_crochet
Shear Crochet was founded in December 2019 and is currently based out of Minneapolis, MN.
"I started crocheting in 2015 and I made a lot of gifts for people, I did it for just the joy of creating. In 2019 I made a hat and scarf set and I showed one of my friends and they said "can I buy that" and thus bloomed the idea of even thinking about starting to sell my crochet."
Isha shared that the most challenging part of owning a small business is promoting, getting the word out there, and making things that people want to buy.
The most rewarding part is "seeing the completed products and seeing people be excited about what I've given them."
Isha's advice or encouragement for others: "if you're doing something, a craft or service, that you are really passionate about that will help you keep going. There will be times that you will be discouraged, keep perfecting, keep working on making it better so when it takes off it takes off."
Everything from Shear Crochet is custom and made to order! However, you'll be able to shop premade gifts @theblackmarketmpls Fall Fest this September, the 25th from 2-8pm at 767 N Eustis St, St Paul, MN 55114
Want to know how to support?
You can donate to Shear Crochet which uses the funds to buy materials in order to produce and give hats and scarves to local community outreach organizations.
